COMCAST NBCUNIVERSAL

Comcast NBCUniversal was presented with the 2021 Blue Door Award by the Alliance in recognition of generous support of Massachusetts Boys & Girls Clubs and extraordinary efforts on behalf of youth. From local Clubs all the way to the national office, the Boys & Girls Club Movement has benefited from the partnership with Comcast NBCUniversal. Without their support, millions of America’s youth would be left on their own during critical out-of-school time. For years Comcast has supported the 35 MA Clubs in their service area in a variety of ways:  Assistance with the creation and airing of public service announcements, providing each Club access to internet and TV services, setting up Lift Zones so Clubs can provide free hotspot connectivity to their communities, coordinating Comcast Care Days volunteering events at Clubs, and sponsorship of our annual state Youth of the Year Celebration (including providing the finalists with laptop computers and Microsoft Office Software).

BOSTON UNIVERSITY

The Alliance has entered into a 5 year partnership to conduct research regarding H2GO! This is a youth-empowerment-based health program targeting childhood obesity and sugar-sweetened beverage intake among children 9-12 years old and their parents. This program uses evidence-based strategies for health behavior change, has shown success in pilot research, and was developed for delivery through Boys & Girls Clubs (BGCs).

MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH

The Alliance works annually with the Youth Violence Prevention Grant to enhance and/or expand after school and youth development programming opportunities, deepen the impact of Club programs and the Club experience on participating youth, and respond to the specific, priority needs of the youth and communities we serve. The Alliance has also entered into a 5-year partnership with the Bureau of Substance Addiction Services to implement a continuous quality improvement model into Club programming.

GREATER BOSTON ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS

Since 2018, GBAR has been providing $500 scholarships to at least 14 of the Youths of the Year in their service area. The Youth of the Year title is a prestigious honor bestowed upon an exemplary young person for their leadership, service, academic excellence, and dedication to live a healthy lifestyle. The Youth of the Year Program honors our nation’s most awe-inspiring young people on their path to great futures and encourages all kids to lead, succeed and inspire.

MYRA H. KRAFT GIVING BACK SCHOLARSHIP

Every year, the Massachusetts Youth of the Year is presented with a $20,000 Myra H. Kraft Giving Back Scholarship made possible by the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation.
